About Sarah

My thirst for knowledge is never ending, recent studies include yoga therapist training, pelvic floor and back care courses and 'Sharing the music' song leader training.

My yoga studies began in 2006 with a BWY foundation course. During time spent in Tibet, Nepal, India, New Zealand and the UK in the following years I crossed paths with a great many philosophies and spiritual practices woven into the daily existence of the people and places I visited. I learnt from teachers from lineages including Sivananda, Ashtanga, Satyananda, kundalini, Amma and Babaji, and learnt the arts of Reiki, Thai yoga massage, shiatsu and Indian head massage.

From 2009 I attended yoga teacher training courses in India and London. The immersive Sivananda TTC at an ashram next to the Ganges in Uttarkashi was an intense and life changing experience. For a month I lived and breathed yoga as a way of life morning, noon and night, chanting and meditating alongside physical classes and theory. Back in the UK I studied with Conrad at Yoga Professionals, a thorough TTC focused on philosophy, postural work and class structuring. This combination of two TTCs gave me experience of yoga from the esoteric end of the spectrum to a UK health and safety perspective!

Dance

I've loved learning and sharing since I can remember, from ballet as a tiny tot to tap, jazz and more as a teen, to training at London Contemporary Dance School in ballet, contemporary dance, yoga, tai chi and other movement forms, to performing as a professional dancer. In the years before yoga teacher training I'd led dance workshops in schools, aerobics sessions, adult dance classes and taught A level dance at Colchester Sixth Form college.

Festivals

For over fifteen years I've been involved in small yoga, music and environmental camps across the south and west of England. Helping to set up, decorate, prepare and serve food and drink and leading workshops. Plus thoroughly enjoying dipping a toe into experiences of dance, sound, song, laughter, drumming, permaculture, bio-dynamics, spoon carving, scything, intuitive art, death cafe and plant medicine to name some of the things I tried!

Other Work

Alongside years of part time freelancing I've had many other jobs including administrative office work, cleaning, farm labouring, delivery driving and care work for the elderly and adults with profound disabilities. I've experienced a variety of occupational environments and associated stressors, injuries and conditions that have arisen from these ways of earning a living.

Wellbeing

Along the way I've grappled with the physical, mental and emotional ups and downs that come with life and all it's challenges. With self practice and guidance from other practitioners I have worked through / am working with ptsd, anxiety, depression, hormone imbalance, grief, loss, chronic symptoms and injury rehabilitation. The ever expanding toolbox of techniques helps to keep me centred, connected and as well as possible in these fast paced, busy and complex, modern times.

What I can offer to you...

Nowadays my teaching and practice draws on knowledge and experience gained from life itself, the people I've worked with, plus many inspiring movement, dance, yoga, sound, song and complimentary therapy practitioners I am fortunate to have encountered. I aim to offer a warm welcome with a non-dogmatic, empathic, light hearted and down to earth approach, blending many different teachings, creating a bridge between ancient wisdom and modern reality. I bring a unique flavour to my classes, workshops, retreats and one to one sessions and offer you a wealth of tools to reconnect to yourself through movement, breath, voice and restorative practices. Discover ways to incorporate these into the everyday and create space in your life for you...
